Put a Little “Lab” in Your Heart on Black (Lab) Friday

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - November 24, 2020 - CareCredit, a leading promotional financing solution for health, veterinary, and personal care is supporting Canine Companions for Independence, a nonprofit organization that provides expertly trained service dogs to people with disabilities, in a big way this holiday season.

Canine Companions’ Black Lab Friday kicks off on November 27, and the nonprofit is inviting everyone to put a little “Lab” in their heart by donating to help them continue to provide service dogs to those who need them. From Black Friday through Giving Tuesday, your gift to Canine Companions will be matched – dollar for dollar, up to $150,000 – thanks to the generosity of CareCredit, The Sproule Family and an anonymous donor.

Canine Companions service dogs are trained in over 40 commands to help provide enhanced independence to children, adults and veterans with disabilities and provided free of charge to recipients.

*Every day on average, 16 U.S. veterans commit suicide (U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs). More than 500,000 servicemen and women are living with invisible wounds, from depression to post-traumatic stress disorder and 320,000 are experiencing debilitating brain trauma (Wounded Warrior Project). Each year, America sees approximately 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide and 670,000 dogs are euthanized (ASPCA).
